Smile (2022) This year’s surprise box office hit is like another popular movie you’ve already seen, with a much less likeable cast. I gave it a shot, I did not like.
I liked the first half of this, but the second half wasn't good.

Finally caught Nope which was great. Even had a prominent feature of a song by Exuma which made me fall out of my chair. I legit never thought I'd hear him in a mainstream context.

Also caught the new Candyman technically a sequel. This was also great...until the last 1/3.

I think each Peele film has beaten the previous and I loved Get Out.

I thought the new Candyman was spectacular, really one of the films of the year.

Candyman was great until it wasn't. It really needed to be longer and cut out some of the superfluous scare scenes that seemed really forced. Also the police shooting at the end was ridiculous. I get what they were getting at, but come on.

Halloween Ends (2022) I like that they did something else with it, I give it a thumbs up. Don’t blink or you’ll miss Darcy’s cameo. (Peacock)
We saw this at the theater. I thought it was great and don't understand all the negative reviews. There's a Youtube video where two fans discuss the original ending. I'm glad they cut it out.
I think people don't like that it's a Halloween movie that barely has Michael Myers. It's one thing if it was a stand alone, but it's the third part of a trilogy and they introduce this new character and make him the focal point? Nah, I thought it was bafflingly bad.
I read an interesting article that says this new Halloween trilogy by David Green follows John Carpenters original three movies where H1 and H2 both happen on the same night and then third one is a totally different story. Halloween Ends does divert into a different story but includes an end for Laurie and Mike Myers narrative

Tep, have you seen The Leech yet? High recommendation, one of the most fucked up Christmas horror movies I think I've ever seen. "I snorted mama" deserves a place alongside "it's garbage day" imho

I watched "Soft & Quiet" last night and it was an incredibly compelling but uncomfortable 90 minutes.

Saw Pearl. It was pretty good. I honestly thought it was going to be bloodier.
