Aside from the terrible details of the story, that she refers to herself in the third person, alienated from herself by the horror, is what stabbed at me when I read it.JennyB wrote: ↑05 Jul 2023, 10:41amHoly crap that is awful. … in the 1860 US election, Lincoln didn’t receive a single vote south of Virginia/Kentucky. Not electoral, but popular. I assume he was kept off the ballot, but it’s still kind of jarring.

I might be wrong, but back then I don't think you could. Ballots were preprinted back then and you selected the ballot that reflected your preference—or rather the party's preference. Something to that effect. Voting a lot more like agreeing to Terms & Conditions than individual preference.JennyB wrote: ↑17 Jul 2023, 8:16pmNot even a write-in?Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑15 Jul 2023, 10:20am… in the 1860 US election, Lincoln didn’t receive a single vote south of Virginia/Kentucky. Keeping The Dream Alive by Münchener Freiheit was by Münchener Freiheit and not The Beatles or a solo Beatles artist. Mind blown.

Like You Get What You Give by New Radicals, swore that was a new Stones track the first time I heard it, heard Jagger in the vocals.
