So apparently Pat Smear is straight? I always assumed he was gay even back to his Nirvana days.
He says he's straight.
My theory is that he was gay, but that being in the most bland heteronormative rock band for 25 years straightened him out.
It was certainly taking your life into your own hands to admit you were gay in the 70s/80s LA punk scene back then. It's part of why Darby was so tortured.
Pre-hardcore LA punk was a lot more varied and open. Maybe not fully accepting, but not the militant masculine assholery of hardcore in the 80s.
That's how Alice Bag describes it.

Aside from the terrible details of the story, that she refers to herself in the third person, alienated from herself by the horror, is what stabbed at me when I read it.

… in the 1860 US election, Lincoln didn’t receive a single vote south of Virginia/Kentucky. Not electoral, but popular. I assume he was kept off the ballot, but it’s still kind of jarring.

I used to get him and Jason Isbell confused and now that is not a problem whatsoever.

I might be wrong, but back then I don't think you could. Ballots were preprinted back then and you selected the ballot that reflected your preference—or rather the party's preference. Something to that effect. Voting a lot more like agreeing to Terms & Conditions than individual preference.

Makes sense. Thank you - I should have known this.

Keeping The Dream Alive by Münchener Freiheit was by Münchener Freiheit and not The Beatles or a solo Beatles artist. Mind blown.

It does have Bealtes-esque vibes that I can't shake.

Like You Get What You Give by New Radicals, swore that was a new Stones track the first time I heard it, heard Jagger in the vocals.

Where's Heston when you need him??

Heston is in a Guatemalan prison. That's been confirmed.
