Sweet action for kids 'n' cretins. Marjoram and capers.

Note the lack of any clip from the 21st century.

I think they're all from the same episode, aren't they? Itchy and Scratchy: The Movie?

You might be right. I couldn't remember if some of the gags were from other episodes.

Kidding about the new yorker aside, I want to emphasise how great that interview is. Really a must read for any fan of the show. Just funny, warm stuff.
Yeah, he comes off as less of a curmudgeon than previous bits have suggested.
My favorite exchange in the interview:
I agree. I’m looking through your window as I type this next question: What do you make of the compliment “Swartzweldian”?

I guess I understand what they’re driving at, and it all sounds very complimentary, and I thank everybody for that, but I can’t help thinking “Swartzweldian” is about the most awkward-sounding word in the English language. I mean, I thought “Oakleyesque” and “Vittiriffic” [after “Simpsons” writers Bill Oakley and Jon Vitti] were bad, but “Swartzweldian”!

So how would you describe your sense of humor, your comedic sensibility?

Swartzweldian.

Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Boy, Swarzwelder says he wouldn't blame actors for his writing falling flat, but that Trivial Pursuit/Time Travel sketch is OBVIOUSLY hampered by a dull reading. The right actors could have made that shine easily.

edit: this is a great line:
I know some people think of us as gods, and maybe we are. I’m not saying we’re not gods.

I quote that line with pretty solid regularity, despiteboth Alf and pogs not coming up in conversation naturally too often these days.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

I do it whenever anyone asks me to remember something or someone. That stuff is immediately blessed with pog status.
