I often use/miss-use the phrase “time to grab me something sweet” usually around dessert time. Rewatching this clip, what the hell was the deal with Gentle Ben? There wasn’t anything like that at the time right? Animal talk shows?
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

No, just a bit of weird tv imaginings, I think, given all the trashy daytime talk shows of the period, looking for an edge.
