Lovely. I know I'm biased but daughters are the best. I couldn't deal with a near clone of myself, I know what a little twat I was as a kid.
I wanted a daughter first (or only?) and my wife came through on her end. Every time I see a boy, I think what terrors they are. I know that'll change come like 13 though.

I had a conversation with one of my nephews a couple years ago about easily he and my other nephews would be able to kick the shit out of me. He was a lot more generous about things than he should have been.

I feel the same way - I'm so glad I have a son. If I had a daughter, she would be getting all mopey, wearing all black and listening to Joy Division right about now. I don't know if I could take it.

Hoy - see above. Ari is a really good kid. He's dealing with some things right now, but it's just typical middle school stress compounded by pandemic stress. Overall, we have it pretty damn easy. One of his friends disclosed to him and another friend that he was feeling suicidal. Ari and his other friend told a teacher, so I was proud that he did that. And he stood up for the friend when he was being bullied, which also made me very proud. It's just so heartbreaking that a 12 year old is having suicidal ideations,
