...The trumpet sounded and the fifth seal was opened...

Sweet action for kids 'n' cretins. Marjoram and capers.

Lovely. I know I'm biased but daughters are the best. I couldn't deal with a near clone of myself, I know what a little twat I was as a kid.
I feel the same way - I'm so glad I have a son. If I had a daughter, she would be getting all mopey, wearing all black and listening to Joy Division right about now. I don't know if I could take it.

Tom - she's adorable!

Hoy - see above. Ari is a really good kid. He's dealing with some things right now, but it's just typical middle school stress compounded by pandemic stress. Overall, we have it pretty damn easy. One of his friends disclosed to him and another friend that he was feeling suicidal. Ari and his other friend told a teacher, so I was proud that he did that. And he stood up for the friend when he was being bullied, which also made me very proud. It's just so heartbreaking that a 12 year old is having suicidal ideations,
I'm really joking, talking shit about other people's kids gets really ugly really quickly. I'm just proud of my girl as I would be if she were a boy and I'd be talking shit to HesTom.

Obviously you should be proudest of VH Jr's drumming interests.
I know you were joking! I think he may have moved onto the guitar. So I dodged a bullet there. :)

Thank you. One guy really picks on this kid because he has long hair. The kid is, and I quote, "growing his hair out for rock and roll." What kind of asshole makes fun of that?

I was never a bully at school, not even someone who would join-in but one of my big regrets is not standing up for a couple of kids who were being bullied.
I don't blame them, because they did their best, but I wish my parents had been a little more "involved" in my schooldays.

Same here. And that's what I told Ari. Aside from the fact that you will feel better about yourself when you are older for standing up for the kids who are bullied, you should do it because you care about others.

Daughter is three now and I can’t wait to take her to things again. She enjoyed the aquarium last summer but she wasn’t even two by then. It’s crazy to see her some much more aware and verbal about it.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Here's a pic of Tom later on preparing his chips.
