Finally got around to the Curb finale this morning. Gotta say, I'm yet again a little underwhelmed at the ending but, what of it, it's Larry's obsession, not mine. The episode overall is outstanding, so many little bits to savour, not least Susie's court appearance in wheelchair, Ted's determination to steal the limelight, Leon's obsession with Seinfeld. Jerry doesn't add a lot to it, I don't think, but doesn't ruin it either. Simply awesome, great comic writing, great television. Up with the best ever, no doubt in my mind.
The apparent sore point between he and Jerry about the Seinfeld finale—that he'd seek a do-over—amuses me.

This may sound crazy but when Larry ran with the "pants tent" gag in E1 of Curb, I'm 75% convinced this was with an eventual Seinfeld finale re-run in mind. Should nearly have called it at the time!

Whenever the Boss goes out of town for an extended period, I celebrate my absolute control of the tv by revisiting some old tv series. I chose one of my favourites, St. Elsewhere. What's really struck me, 8 episodes in, is how this thing realized its voice right from the start. It certainly got better as it went along, not by fixing what wasn't working or realizing a new direction, but just building on what was established from the start. I'm not sure there was a better tv series in the 80s, drama or sitcom.
