People keeping company with Ayn Rand, Lenin and the unibomber shouldn't throw stones.

Actually, we're the kind of people who compulsively throw stones. :disshame:

I haven't taken this test in ages, so I couldn't remember where I sat, but I just took it again and wound up with ISTJ. George Washington and Sean Connery!

Not an M-B test, but in a fit of writing avoidance, I took a Mensa exam online (those whacky fuckers, withholding the results unless I send them £20; I'll keep my money and buy some Charleston Chew, thank you very much). Anyway, there were two questions that I guessed at and am curious whether anyone here can give a confident response:

Which one of the numbers does not belong is the following series?
2
3
6
7
8
14
15
30

(I guessed 30 but for no good reason)

A fish has a head 9" long. The tail is equal to the size of the head plus one-half the size of the body. The body is the size of the head plus the tail." How long is the fish?
27"
54"
63"
72"
81"

I couldn't quite work out the math precisely, but the head is 9, the body is 9 + 9 + something, and the tail is 9 + something. So, minimum 36". I figured 54" was a reasonable guess.

edit: Fixed some typical language glitches in the last sentence.

I've trained my brain to pretty much shut down when anything more complicated than calculating a tip is involved. The same just happenensfinvaorpnvej apeiaueraehbrv

The answer to the first question is 8. You add 1 to the previous number then double the previous number. 3 = 2 + 1 adds 1 to previous number, 6 = 3 x 2 the double the previous.

The second answer is 6 ft. Or 72''.

The head is 9''
The tail is 18'' + 9'' = 27''
The body is 9'' + 18'' + 9'' = 36''
9 + 27 + 36 = 72''

I never got higher than a C in math at school, though I'm shocked it wasn't much lower. I think it's my frustration with the learning process there that feeds my current distaste for numbers. I just read Marky's rundown and my eyes quite literally glazed over.

Looks solid to me. Thanks, man!

My wife is a mathphobe, plain and simple. She sees numbers and panics. She's proof to me that IQ tests, which rely heavily on math, are bullshit, because she ain't dumb.
