Hello,

At least he wouldn't get to perp walk (be arraigned separately, kind of more privately). Trump would milk that perp walk for a ton of free publicity his supporters would eat up.
I’m not so sure about that. The essence of the strongman persona is that he can’t be humbled, that he is always the alpha of any scenario. Trump in handcuffs would be a devastating image, and we’ve already seen that his ego can’t handle losing an election. These investigations, where he has zero control over his fate, must be a cancer gnawing away at his lizard brain.

edit: Then again, maybe I'm completely wrong!

Worth it to soundtrack the footage to this:
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

Been waiting for this forever.
From what I've read from legal beagles, this one is the tougher case to prove (I think John Edwards beat something similar) but the Georgia and documents one are much more devastating. Still, there is something of a "finally" to it.

Hopefully not in an apocalyptic way. :twitch:

Part of my hunch (okay, hope is probably more accurate) is that a lack of outrage and protest will shatter the belief that Trump holds his followers under a spell, and that will break the spell he has over the media.

The spell will break when he's dead and everyone stops seeing his face, hearing his name, and talking about him.

One of the things I keep coming back to is a piece on Nixon and Watergate, where he seemed to have a firm grip on the base and the party. Revelation after revelation and he was fine, and then suddenly he wasn't. So I keep wondering if there is a moment, something we aren't fully expecting, that exposes a weakening grip on the party.

But, hell, I'll take him having a heart attack on the toilet.

Me too. But you'd think that since he knew this was coming, he'd at least have somebody proof read or use spell check for his big reply.....after all, he was INDICATED today.

Hello,

Agreed with Doc's thoughts here. To raise this to felony level is unprecedented. I've read several sources stating that the Georgia probe is a much more sure event.

I was listening to a podcast recently that said the times this has been successful in modern democracies was when the indictments/crimes just kept piling up and slowly eroded the public. Basically, “he’s gotta be guilty of at least some of this. .”
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.
