I think when Trump gets it into his head to go down a certain avenue of attack, it's basically unstoppable.gkbill wrote: ↑01 Aug 2024, 3:49pmHello,
I wonder if Trump's staff knew about his continued efforts to disprove Harris' blackness.

Jesus Christ, handlers, at this point it's better to show him with naked boys than a couch. Clownshoes and red rubber noses all the way down.

One of the things that strikes me about the "weird" strategy is that it reminds me about something I read about an indigenous nation in Canada (I can't recall which one, unfortunately). Traditionally, they limited the use of more coercive punishment for violating rules and norms in favour of mocking and shaming. In essence, losing face amongst your peers. Status punishment. I've thought that that kind of thing doesn't work well anymore because our society is too atomized, where social ties are looser and anonymity is privileged. But the response from the right at this widespread mocking—that you should be pitied more than feared—counters that assumption well. And, as the author of the article suggests, calling these people weird is fun and therapeutic. It's a bit of a release, I think, from years of anxiety (albeit well earned) about their authoritarian assaults on pluralism. Who would have thought a few weeks ago that taking on the right could be fun?

First time I've seen that one, love it!
I've seen this one a couple of times recently, so I'm going to share it.

Speculation that it's down to Walz or Shapiro. Gotta say, Shapiro is the high risk/high reward option. Maybe it nails down Pennsylvania, but it potentially zaps the enthusiasm of young activists who are very much at odds with his position on Gaza.

Pod Save America kind of dismissed the importance of his Gaza views basically stating that Barack ran in 2008 on his anti-Iraq war stance and picking Biden who voted for the war. Not sure I agree as I feel/felt strongly about both. Plus how it might affect Michigan specifically.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑05 Aug 2024, 4:25pmhttps://archive.ph/zX7vd

Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.
