Pumped. Great pick. Good decision making here.
Democrats have been on too good of a roll. Something catastrophic has to happen in the next 90ish days right?
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

it appears to be Tim Walz.
I can't say I know much about him, but from what I'm starting to read, he's a very solid pick.

Did Obama have a significant snag in fall of '08? I don't recall anything. McCain was the one with problems that fall—the confirmation that Palin was a turnip, the economic collapse. Which isn't to say something won't happen, but if the Democrats get their preferred narrative (which Trump and Vance almost seem determined to give them), it will take something massive to alter how the campaign is covered.

Also, not being clued in enough to say one way or another, but would Walz have been on Harris' radar if he hadn't made the "weird" observation that was like STP to the good vibes fuel of her campaign launch? Calling MAGA people weird has just felt perfect, both therapeutic and politically effective.

My experience is that Tim W's from Minnesota are solid dudes.
I see what you did there. (And I'm flattered.)

In my job, I run into Gov. Walz every so often, mostly at press conferences.

He comes across as really laid back, and in a sense, he is.

But he's also a really sharp policy wonk and he can speak authoritatively on almost any subject in an off-the-cuff and effective manner.

Fun fact: He doesn't use a Teleprompter when giving his annual state-of-the-state speech. He just has index cards with the main topics he intends to hit on.

He's a great communicator, and can frame his arguments well. I think he will be great at countering the slams the other side will hurl at him.

I'm enthused about his selection, and can't wait to see him demolish J.D Vance in a debate.

Glad to hear your perspective, Spiff. The teleprompter thing is quite impressive—it speaks to someone with a calm and organized mind.

Let's wait to see if he has any Replacements opinions. The Sparky vote rides on it.

Has Tim Walz voted in the black diamond poll yet?

(Also, new day rising needs to get played at tonight's rally, right?)

Thanks for the insights. I trust your judgment quite a bit, so this seals the deal for me that this was the right pick.

Jesus, that would rope in every disaffected Xer (but I repeat myself) who'd given up on things ever getting better.

Ha.

In Minnesota, they let you keep your hunting cap on when you get your mug shot taken!

A P.S. to my earlier post about TW.

He chooses his words very carefully, and is not known for shooting his mouth off.

So I don't expect any inappropriate hot mic moments.
