What's not to love about Aerosmith? You can go for their second rate Stones 70s era, their hair metal 80s era, or their mainstream pop rock 90s era. All legit.
They're brainless and have bring nothing new to the table but are listenable. A cock rock Cock Sparrer.

The production on their late 80's/early 90's records is immaculate. Overproduced and impressively so. So many superfluous vocal harmonies and horns and strings and accordions and stuff.

Love In An Elevator is a great one. It had like two verses and two choruses in the first 1:30 and then spends 2 minutes on a bridge for no reason. But then it comes back with that "Gonna be a penthouse pauper Whoa Oh!" part. So good. And then has an acapella ending.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

That drum sound on Rag Doll. Come on, there's plenty to like with Aerosmith.

Listening to Livin' on the Edge and it's wild. It's 6 minutes long and has some weird chords and key changes. There's a piano that randomly pops in for a few seconds at the 3 minute mark. Oh and that bass drum of god at 3:30. The song has a worthless 2 minute outro. I admire the audacity.

Also that mandolin that pops in on the second verse of "Crazy" for no reason. Those touches are great.

I'm with ya, I listened to a lot of Aerosmith in junior high, still enjoy giving them a listen once or twice a year, but it's not like they're not on my iPods or playlists.

It's like saying KISS isn't worse than rectal bleeding, and then Heston runs with that to prove that he won the argument with 102% of the vote.

Hell, even "Angel" is a great monster ballad. The schlock is strong on that one, but I can't deny it. That parallel harmony is so effective.

We're getting close to a conversation as awful as when people decided Clapton wasn't so bad.

I’ve softened my stance on a lot of music over the past quarter century, but I cannot and will not abide this board allowing Aerosmith to be spoken of positively outside of maybe Toys in the Attic
