The Future of the Democratic Party
Re: The Future of the Democratic Party
For the record I have been a down the line Dem voter for my whole voting life bar two times where I threw an independent a vote when the Dem was very unlikely to win. So I am coming to this after having been a defensive voter for about half my life.
Defensive voting seemed sensible to me but I look at where we are now and it seems as much of a failure as the idea that gun ownership prevents tyranny.

Maybe I’m old but I’m in any port in a storm mode (have been my whole life). An inch in the left direction is worth it right now. I think Biden suck and am afraid we have to wait out that set, they’ve got to die sometime.eumaas wrote: ↑11 Mar 2020, 5:23pmFor the record I have been a down the line Dem voter for my whole voting life bar two times where I threw an independent a vote when the Dem was very unlikely to win. My actuarial table faith. Not that Xers are any great shakes, but I think our generation's flaws—chiefly a detached cynicism—is better than the hypocritical and selfish moralizing of the Boomers.BostonBeaneater wrote: ↑11 Mar 2020, 8:42pmafraid we have to wait out that set, they’ve got to die sometime.

It's been observed that Fox News' disinformation campaign mostly endangers its core audience. It's like it's run by the tobacco industry.

Gene and I were discussing on FB, but Joe's environmental plan as states on his website isn't awful tho it's insufficient: https://joebiden.com/climate
the problem is, his record and what he says on the trail is so much less than whats on the site. everyone should be skeptical that he'd keep any of his listed commitments. I actually think, if I was advising the campaign, this is a plank I'd start talking a lot about to build some bridges with his left flank. But, he probably won't do that until it's too late.
Politics, man.

This is all anecdotal, but there are a LOT of racist Xers in my life and then there's Peter Bagge too.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑11 Mar 2020, 9:13pmMy actuarial table faith. Of course. But I do think, as a whole, our generation is less lethal than the one in front of us.Kory wrote: ↑12 Mar 2020, 1:02pmThis is all anecdotal, but there are a LOT of racist Xers in my life and then there's Peter Bagge too.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑11 Mar 2020, 9:13pmMy actuarial table faith. Re: The Future of the Democratic Party
Tulsi dropped out and endorsed Biden. I guess that means Biden is the Kremlin's candidate, huh?

I'm just making fun of the slew of comments that Tulsi was a Russian asset. I'm no Tulsi fan but that shit was pretty silly.

Re: The Future of the Democratic Party
It's all pretty silly isn't it? I saw your work situation and have heard similar tales from others. Top to bottom in public and private institutions I see a staggering lack of leadership. People love being in charge but are stunningly pitiful at making tough decisions.eumaas wrote: ↑19 Mar 2020, 2:52pmI'm just making fun of the slew of comments that Tulsi was a Russian asset.
