The inevitable third-party threat: https://www.huffpost.com/entry/trump-th ... 9de1b7140f

I saw someone suggest the other day that for the party to keep him from doing something like this if denied the nomination is for the actual nominee to promise to pardon him if elected. And yet I'm not sure that would be enough for him to be a good boy for the party. All he would see is the rejection.

Hello,

Bonhoeffer’s ideas apply to Trump's and perhaps many of both parties' followers. They're still out there although people are starting to see behind the curtain.

Education (and thus critical thinking) will solve many of the US's problems.

While I suspect most of us here would be sympathetic to that argument, the big question is who gets to define what is intelligent and what is stupid? Mind you, we have the same problem over defining good and evil, but it's still a political question.

So I've known plenty of smart people from a technical standpoint but when it comes to other topics they're plenty stupid or ignorant but they allow the confidence in their knowledge to carry over into other areas.

I've long said that a sizeable—maybe even a majority—of people in academia couldn't get a job pushing a broom if their department closed.

And no profession more than the law convinces its degree holders to believe that theirs is some kind of omni-ability in any area they care to opine upon. I've been around law profs providing (unasked, of course) their expert opinion on historical questions while actual trained historians look at each other smirking.

I've worked with lawyers for 20 years. I can't think of a class of people who are so damn sure they're smart, especially on subjects that they don't know shit about. Maybe religious folk.

Messenger aside, this seems actually sketch af:
Several students recalled DeSantis went to parties with the seniors, the New York Times said, citing anonymous sources. Two students recalled DeSantis attending two parties where alcohol was served, though they said it was after graduation. They reported they weren't bothered by it at the time, though they now questioned it, the report said.
DeSantis is one of those guys who keeps countdown clocks on when underage celebs turn 18. Just such creepy shit.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

It makes the obsession with groomers even uglier. It’s the cliche of the ardent homophobe who’s actually gay.

Saw that earlier today, to be expected from the Kraken lady I suppose. Also read that numerous Faux news hosts knew the big lie was just that, but reported otherwise. Hope Dominion is able to benefit from this revelation and sue their pants off.

One of things that is amusing to me about this lawsuit and its revelations thus far is that it's the right that wants to loosen libel laws to more easily sue the "liberal media." Oblivious, of course, to the floodgates that would open up against aggressively propagandist right-wing media organizations. Fox, as the highest profile of these, would immediately have to rethink its model.
