His desperation for attention is very satisfying. He announces so loudly that he doesn't exist if the camera isn't on him.

I'm really glad I decided to leave twitter when I did. I don't have to see any of this unless I go looking for it.

Now if only the Dems had a strong candidate to oppose him...

Surely there's a celebrity candidate to make it all good, like Oprah or Jon Stewart or George Clooney!

I'm hoping for Pete Butti-getting jiggy with it.

Would Kamala break away from Biden to run or would that be bad business?

DeSantis announced he's running?

I'm with Mimi, I think Pete Buttigieg is very intelligent and well spoken, I'd support his running.

She's seemingly been a very quiet VP, not really carving out a space for herself. Maybe that's just how that works.

Yeah, Kamala has really wasted her time as VP. She should have been using the time to build connections with the Dems union base and building her network in the south. Whether it was her call or biden's, she's been stuck on stuff like the border which doesn't do her any good politically. She's also a weak candidate. People forget, I think, just how awful a campaigner she was. Maybe she's working on those skills, but I'd be surprised if she consolidates the Dems behind her.

Mayor Pete has some similar problems, particularly with southern black Dems, and I don't think he's done anything to solve those problems. He may not care as much though, I get the impression he's fine for a while doing actual work and not just being a politician. He has a lot of decades to work on his resume.

Addendum: the Dems bench is extremely thin right now. One of the major benefits of this midterm not being a wipeout is they'll actually be able to develop a deeper roster of talent (or "talent" if you prefer) for future elections.

I think they mostly were happy to coast during the Clinton and Obama, and now Biden administrations. That or just all looking around for someone else to step up.

Yeah, I think it's three things: 1) complacency during the good times (particularly the obama years), 2) a gerontocracy that has kept its grip on power past the expiration date, 3) thermostatic midterms that keep wiping out younger potential stars in the party.

This midterm may help take care of all three to some extent. It was a great result and Dems held a lot of ground, but still lost the house. Perfect time for a reshuffling in leadership but you have a pretty deep bench of Dems who have had to run competitive races and build networks of support. And Dems are anything but complacent right now.

Now, the Republicans actually have this problem too, it's just papered over by the fact that their base actually enjoys nominating the most insane, unqualified people possible for top jobs.
