Re: The Trump observations thread
That that statement should have to be made, and would draw praise (and jeers), tells you everything you need to know about American politics.

Re: The Trump observations thread
If only he'd been given the opportunity to do something about it, like an impeachment or something. It's not like this is new behaviour.
Or was he the one who did vote against? If so, apologies.

Re: The Trump observations thread
This whole Tweet thread seems like a pretty good breakdown of Trump's strategy, which is a desperate poker bluff to save his own ass.

I'd be happy with him being caught like Jerry Lundegaard at the end of Fargo—in his boxers, trying to crawl out of a Motel 6 bathroom window.

From Biden's admin? Nah. But he made plenty of enemies in New York even before 2016, and taking him down would be a massive scalp for any DA.Kory wrote: ↑15 Dec 2020, 6:39pmWe don't really think anything is going to happen to him do we?Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑15 Dec 2020, 5:11pmhttps://www.macleans.ca/opinion/in-a-bi ... trump-run/

Re: The Trump observations thread
Hopefully it would tarnish his image a bit more to the point where he couldn't run again in 2024. Hmm, now that I think about it, can his image be damaged any further that it already has been?

Re: The Trump observations thread
I honestly don't think he will run in 2024, should he be not in jail/exile or in receivership. For one thing, he wouldn't be able to handle losing again. But mainly, it's always about the grift, and he'll work the grift by teasing as much as possible, getting as much money from the gullible. But actually risk it all by properly running again? I'm doubtful.
Plus, hopefully he'll be dead by then.

Re: The Trump observations thread
I really hope he and his family decide to go back to defrauding charities and stay out of politics. The damage he's done to democracy will take some time to mend.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑15 Dec 2020, 8:50pmI honestly don't think he will run in 2024, should he be not in jail/exile or in receivership. Re: The Trump observations thread
One of the interesting observations/speculations (specuvations?) I read several months ago is that not only does he have hundreds of millions in loans coming due in a couple years, he's "hot" enough that no legit bank would loan him money now because it would invite very unwanted scrutiny. Which compounds his liquidity problem. In which case, the Trump empire could be seized with unexpected speed. Banks and businesses are fine with illusions as long as they get theirs, but if Trump can't deliver, what's their interest in propping him up?Sparky wrote: ↑15 Dec 2020, 8:58pmI really hope he and his family decide to go back to defrauding charities and stay out of politics. I read this a few months ago, prior to the election. Trump has no second term, thus it will be interest-ing times for him!
