I don't like all this unity talk. I prefer harsh deserved consequences talk.

In the spirit of not doom-mongering immediately, I will say his executive orders today are mostly quite good, even acknowledging the usual issue that - as is always the case - there is more that could be done. For the enviro heads, reversing Keystone XL pipeline and rejoining the Paris Climate Accords are good moves, particularly (especially if they're truly first steps in doing more, rather than the end of the convos). Finally putting the covid task force stuff in order as it should have been from go and the immigration orders also quite good. I read somewhere that he's talking about getting a cat. Hopefully, he will go the shelter route.

Haven't they already suffered from a total narcissist for four years? A cat just normalizes it.

what happens in the senate with the filibuster is probably going to be the best barometer for the next 4 years.

Best outcome = immediate abolishment of filibuster
medium outcome = it technically stays but dem caucus is united in using the threat of nuking it to prod republicans into line on key votes (most likely outcome)
worst outcome = dem entirely cave on filibuster and we're back to being mired in gridlock

i'd bet money on manchin and synema desperately working with collins, murkowski, etc. to come up with some agreement that puts us in the medium outcome. I think the only way the dems don't lose the senate (and maybe the house) in 2022 tho is to just get rid of the filibuster and actually get some good shit passed. Which, its possible Republicans will be obstinate enough to force the problem solver dorks to sign onto that outcome.

If Biden being inaugurated is all it takes to knock the wind out of their sails, it's an even flakier group than I realized.

If they want to waste their time with stunts, they can't complain when Democrats don't consult with them on serious matters. If you want to sit at the grown-up's table, you don't get to reach into your shorts and huck poo everywhere.
