There might be a joke in there somewhere. This is late-stage MAGA. Some of the most vicious people in politics and commentary are unironically freaking out over people doing normal, apolitical things. They are irrationally hypersensitive, proclaiming their victimhood as they scour for woke scolds and creeping communism under every sofa cushion.

When it all started, my hope was that Vance would be Santorum'd with this. I think it's passed the tipping point. As far as I know urban dictionary doesn't have an entry for vancing to mean fucking furniture, but it'll happen in time.Mimi wrote: ↑25 Aug 2024, 10:02amI hope so.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑25 Aug 2024, 9:55amFrom now to election day, I assume any reference to couches is intentional.Mimi wrote: ↑25 Aug 2024, 9:42amDr. Medulla wrote: ↑25 Aug 2024, 7:34amhttps://www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnbc-opi ... rcna167678

For a professed environmentalist, he sure does have a lot of gruesome stories involving himself and dead animals.

Re: The *ugh* 2024 US Election Thread
I knocked on over 100 doors this weekend... and I have nearly 150 in since I started canvassing. It feels good to be out doing something.
It's actually a cool process. You have an app on your phone to which you download a walk list. The walk list is made up of likely voters in a given neighborhood, so you do not go to every house. If someone answers the door, there is a script to follow on the app, though most of us develop our own shorter version. The key data to gather is (obviously) are they planning on supporting Harris and down ticket Democrats in November. Their answers help refine the list. If someone says they cannot stand Kamala Harris, they're dropped from future lists. If someone is a strong supporter, they likely won't get visited again until the days before the election to make sure they actually get out and vote. The undecided will likely get another visit down the road.
The Dems have a solid structure for keeping all this moving. The national party assigns organizers to the state party, who then further assigns them to the county parties. They're mostly young, recent college grads for the most part, but enthusiastic and smart.
I had a mix of neighborhoods. The ones on the southside of Milwaukee were more working class and more diverse and for the most part everyone I spoke to was friendly. I had a few in more suburban areas and while nobody was outright unfriendly, I had a few who made it very well known that they were not on our side.
Also, you don't go out alone anymore. If you don't have someone to go with you, they will pair you up.
We're not going this weekend because of Labor Day, but after that - it's every weekend until the election.

I wonder if Mike "2 Sheds" is related to Arthur "2 Sheds" Jackson?

Yeah, the canvass app the Dems use (we used the same on a campaign I ran last cycle) is great. I'm sure it's been refined even more since I last had it. It WAY beats the old clipboard and paper - although I do have fond memories from way back in the day of staying up late nights eating pizza and inputting canvass data we'd collected over a weekend.
Really truly thank you for all the work you're doing. This is the kinda shit that is gonna get Harris over the finish line and put a stake in trump this year.
