Just had some missionaries come to the door. We get enough deliveries that I had to go to the door when the bell rang and got nailed. But I let them start and the moment she said, "the word of the Lord," I said, "Nawwwww, I think we're done." Not said in a mean way, but, no, we don't need to waste each other's time. (Side note: I think we need a doorbell cam to avoid this kind of shit.)

The doorbell camera is history's greatest invention.

I'm partial to call display myself. Same value, tho.

I've looked a bit at doorcams and am pausing because of the cold weather problem. My fear is that it won't survive winter here.

It doesn't get too cold here usually, but we had a couple of sub-zero (Fahrenheit) days and ours was fine.

The technology to politely tell people to fuck off already exists, use it. Seriously how often does someone unexpectedly ring your doorbell or knock on the door that you actually want to speak to. Ignore it or just say good day and close the door.

We have this sign in the front window next to our door, helps reduce the annoyances.

I had a no soliciting sign on my door and I was surprised at how many people just downright ignored it. The missionaries actually pounded on my door. I had to yell. Felt no remorse. Fuck mormonism.

We've noticed politicians seem to be the most oblivious to our sign.

True story: My mother used to respond to right wing Christians by calling Jesus the first Communist. I'd like to give her credit for trolling the knuckledraggers, but she was mostly serious.

Nice. I may have mentioned years ago my friend who was an elementary school teacher (in a rural school) invited my wife to his class to speak about Haiti. Dont recall the details but at one point my wife told the impressionable young kids that Jesus was a socialist. He fielded a few calls from angry parents
