Hello,

That's almost as many f**k's as an English halftime talk.

The Boss showed me that last night. I'm quite amazed, really, that downtowners haven't started taking matters into their own hands given how useless the police have been.

This is going to be the thing that really fucks up the occupiers: https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/emerge ... -1.6353968

We've already heard bits and pieces about panicking because, with funding frozen, they aren't receiving their per diems to pay for food, gas, and lodging. When it dawns on them that they could lose their homes (if they still have a mortgage) and trucks (no insurance), there's going to be a lot of "oh fuck." Whether that means getting the hell out or a bitter stand-off, who knows.

edit: My campus is right beside the downtown, where the Yeehawdis are assholing. Campus is all-but shut down for today and tomorrow—classes are back to exclusively Zoom—so it seems like some kind of action is going to be taken soon. Are the occupiers cosplayers or martyrs? Stay tuned, as they say.

Yep, finally. In class today, my students who live downtown were so relieved. People cheering when the big tow trucks arrived. And, for the moment anyway, lots of interest in this fall's civic election. Not a good time to be an incumbent.

As Doc mentioned, I can only imagine how pissed off and over it the people living near the protests are at this point.

Meanwhile, in Ottawa, as another group of civics experts ride into to town, advice is offered:

“Is some help coming soon?” one follower posted in early May. “The warning to stock up and telling us not to pay utilities etc is really difficult. I’m scared I am going to get cut off and won’t have money to reconnect!”
Schadenfreude alert

Yeah I get torn between this and what humanity I have left (which is diminished daily). Is the problem with their leaders, or their eagerness to follow/embrace the most selfish dumbfuck shit that they are exposed to? Id like to think that the sudden disappearance of these fucked up maga types in leadership positions might allow us to level set into some kind of sanity but part of me thinks that new assholes would crawl out of that cesspool to lead those idiot masses.

As Im writing this Hellnation by the Dead Kennedys starts playing in the background.
