This Georgia shit is way too fucking close.
I checked twice tonight and it's flipped from Warnock to Walker, so I'm not going to check again until tomorrow morning, if I do, it's going to be on my mind all night.

Just saw that, fantastic news! Now let's just hope there's none of the GQP "fraud" claims.

No, it's going to be piling on about what a lousy candidate Walker was (which is true) and further blaming Trump (mostly true). And talk about having to do better in picking candidates (true, but will be ignored in the future).

I'm flummoxed how someone as dumb and incompetent and unqualified as Hershel Walker did as well as he did. But at least he didn't do *slightly* better.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

It's the same principle as the yellow dog Democrat. Back in the Jim Crow South, it was said that people would vote for a yellow dog if it had a D beside its name (or, rather, vote for a yellow dog before voting the party of Lincoln). Same idea but the party that it benefits has changed. People vote against parties all the time, but it's really intense in the South.

I thought it was tighter than the 2020 presidential election for the state, but looks like I was off on that:

Holy shit is that a tight state.

Curious how Florida used to be competitive but Georgia wasn't, but now it's flip-flopped.

Florida is surprisingly linear. Results of D in presidential election from 08 to 20: 51, 50, 47.82, 47.86

I think Florida is partly a result two things: 1) migration increasingly being sorted by political leanings (so Republicans are disproportionately moving to America's Wang), 2) the Hispanic vote in Florida - with a large Cuban subset - is moving rightward as the democratic party (rightly or wrongly) is being seen too soft on socialism.

Georgia, meanwhile, is benefiting Democrats with net migration to Atlanta and and the suburbs tilting more Democrat the last few election cycles. I think the big question for Dems is whether the suburban shift is permanent (or as permanent as anything is in politics, anyways) or purely a function of Trumpism. I will say, historically, once demographic groups switch parties like that it tends to be permanent. But so much this time around is wrapped up around rejection of one guy I'm not sure what will happen post-trump (whenever that is).

Yeah he's an idiot but I'll bet not a single Republican doubted he would be their idiot through and through.

And they aren't the type of people who feel comfortable with smart, independent black people anyway.

Not gonna lie, it's immensely entertaining to see them eat their own and label each other opportunists.
