Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_ ... e_governedThe notion that governments derive their only just authority from the consent of the governed is a foundational principle of the American experiment.
However, a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 23% of voters nationwide believe the federal government today has the consent of the governed. Sixty-two percent (62%) say it does not, and 15% are not sure

Yeah, pretty horrible trend. There's a blog that's been linked 'round these parts once or twice before - The Agitator - which is a libertarian blog but often with a focus on police abuse and overreach. As your article indicates, conflicts involving recording officers is often featured.Dr. Medulla wrote:Remember, videotaping cops to make sure they can't lie in court makes you a criminal: http://abcnews.go.com/US/TheLaw/videota ... d=11179076

Not sure if these really belongs here, but my college town made some minor news recently when its excellent wiki (daviswiki.org) helped alert townspeople of a scam artist soliciting money throughout the town. Due to a lack of police response, the people were able to inform other residents of the scam and put a severe damper on her activities.

OK, so this part totally reads like an Onion article...who says shit like this?:
Sunjeet Baadkar, 28, is one of the dozens who have been duped. “Unfortunately, my white-knight complex kicked in,” said Mr. Baadkar, who was approached by the Crying Girl one evening in late March in the parking lot behind the bookstore where he works. In the fading light she looked like a teenager, he recalled, an Amtrak schedule clutched in her hand and makeup streaked down her face.
“It was the crying that really got to me,” he said.
Got a Rake? Sure!
