Sheen seems to have gone right off it. I recall the pub landlady on the news a few weeks back, saying if you didn't like her dolls, you didn't have to darken her door and suppliers have simply taken her at her word. The neat teachable moment in all this is that marginalized people are hyperaware that their behaviour in public has consequences, and that the negative ones can be really harsh. Well, these two got to experience negative consequences when they clearly didn't think any would or should arrive.

Hell yeah, if you're going in hard on free will and freedom of expression, then prepare to be mocked when you engage in a puerile hissy fit because you didn't like some of the responses to your actions.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑03 May 2023, 5:41pmThey weren't supposed to call her bluff!Low Down Low wrote: ↑03 May 2023, 5:32pmSheen seems to have gone right off it. That's the harsh lesson that people who whine about cancel culture are learning: your actions have consequences, including negative ones. The idea that you should be able to say and do whatever the hell you want without meaningful blowback has always been an unjust privilege. So boo hoo that being an asshole might fuck up your life.Low Down Low wrote: ↑03 May 2023, 6:33pmHell yeah, if you're going in hard on free will and freedom of expression, then prepare to be mocked when you engage in a puerile hissy fit because you didn't like some of the responses to your actions.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑03 May 2023, 5:41pmThey weren't supposed to call her bluff!Low Down Low wrote: ↑03 May 2023, 5:32pmSheen seems to have gone right off it. But they've been getting away with this for years, lifetimes and in some ways culturally for centuries so why do they have to stop now. It's been normalized for them and they cant step back and accept they were wrong.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑03 May 2023, 6:53pmThat's the harsh lesson that people who whine about cancel culture are learning: your actions have consequences, including negative ones. And if I step back from being someone who does have an interest in this fight, yeah, I can appreciate their situation. The rules of the game have changed (they think radically, I don't think radically enough, but whatever) and they're have a hard time adjusting. I get that, but rather than bemoan the loss of your privilege, be glad that you're witnessing the start of a proper accounting of centuries of accumulated unjustness. An unwillingness to self-evaluate doesn't merit sympathy.revbob wrote: ↑03 May 2023, 7:12pmBut they've been getting away with this for years, lifetimes and in some ways culturally for centuries so why do they have to stop now. Details quickly emerged suggesting an ideological element to the crash. The driver — identified by police as 28-year-old Sunny White — was with her young children, Aryan, 4, and Nation, 2. Many in the community believe White is a white nationalist and that the crash was intentional. And yet, more than two months later, White has yet to face charges stemming directly from Westwolf’s death.

Also that shit only works if both kids are around at the same time. Otherwise, you are constantly explaining the whole setup.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Well, if someone introduces their kid Aryan to me, my Nazi detector is going to go off.matedog wrote: ↑14 Jun 2023, 8:48amLet's not rush to judgment people.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑13 Jun 2023, 1:36pmThe driver — identified by police as 28-year-old Sunny White — was with her young children, Aryan, 4, and Nation, 2. edit: I often wonder about these people, when they watch movies set during WWII, do they grumble about the wrong side winning?
