What I appreciate about BB is that he's demonstrated that growing older does not me shuffling off silly ideas like human dignity and demands for equality.
Agreed.

Yeah, BB has definitely grown on me as time as gone on and he's remained committed to his own ideals.

Wonderful BB song about how so many left idealists give in to cynicism and selfishness as they age. It's one that's always in my unconscious somewhere reminding me of what's important.

My mom delights in telling me that I'll start moving to the right once I start making more money, and every time I have to ask her what is the income level at which this is supposed to happen? Every time she says it, I'm making more than the last time she said it.

*snort* I'm far more radical and critical left than I was when we were poverty-line students. Any personal satisfaction I have with my life hasn't altered a deeper dissatisfaction with social reality.

I feel the same way. My eyes have only opened more as I've gotten older.

Edit: forget it. Everything is dumb and the planet will be ash in twenty years.

It's a bit breathtaking when you actually consider how quickly such appalling bullshit is being more confidently aired in public. I wouldn't be surprised one iota if, promised anonymity, more than half of Republicans would admit to supporting a repeal of the 13th Amendment.

Is that satire?
