It's been observed by others that the universal icon for saving a document is a diskette, but how many people now have never handled an actual diskette?

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

I don't have quite this extreme an illusion, but it will be better.

Not so fast, I'm west coaster and I've been 7-elevning for over 50 years and I never heard of Speedy Mart!Kimmelweck wrote: ↑05 Aug 2021, 3:28pmOnly took me about 2 hours of late night internet sleuthing to solve the Speedee cup mystery, if indeed that's what it is. I’d never heard of a Speedee 7-Eleven. I don’t think we had them around here – must have been primarily a west coast thing. We just had plain 7-11s.

Ah, ok, I saw this on the 7-11 wikipedia page and assumed the “Speedee Marts” all became “Speedee 7-Elevens” and that California must be littered with them:tepista wrote: ↑05 Aug 2021, 5:01pmNot so fast, I'm west coaster and I've been 7-elevning for over 50 years and I never heard of Speedy Mart!Kimmelweck wrote: ↑05 Aug 2021, 3:28pmOnly took me about 2 hours of late night internet sleuthing to solve the Speedee cup mystery, if indeed that's what it is. “With the purchase in 1963 of 126 Speedee Mart (all already open 7–11) franchised convenience stores in California, the company entered the franchise business.”
The only image of an actual Speedee 7-Eleven store I could find though, posted on the last page, has a very 70s look to it. Not much info to be found, but maybe they dropped the Speedee part of the name a long time ago and just became 7-11s.

That reminds me of our local ice cream man when I was a kid, Mr. Soft and Hard. Parents would exchange troubled glances whenever the ice cream truck drove through our neighborhood.
