My former friend named his boy Tristan. The Boss and I couldn't really hide our disappointment that he'd saddle his kid with a name that all-but-assured his kid would either become a dick or be bullied.

The friendship didn't end on child-naming grounds; I could no longer rationalize away his racism/authoritarianism. I miss him but I don't miss the hoops my conscience had to jump thru.revbob wrote: โ30 Dec 2022, 8:21pmGood on ya.Dr. Medulla wrote: โ30 Dec 2022, 6:08pmMy former friend named his boy Tristan. Couldn't both happen - the kid's a dick and got bullied?

(I'm ashamed to say that while I was on the receiving end of some bullies in junior high, I also had people I picked on. I occasionally get those hot flushes of embarrassment when I think of how I tormented some kids with my โcleverness.โ)

Donโt remember if this has been shared here but Iโve watched this 2 hour video maybe four times now and Iโm still picking up new info regarding crypto. Itโs a terrific takedown of the whole culture as well.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

I don't recall this being shared, so thanks! I fully admit to not being all that econ literate, but crypto has always smelled of a scam to me, buttressed by the fact that its promoters always come off as untrustworthy slick fucks.
