I just noticed that Madison seems quite huge, which is funny because he was a runt. Like, five foot fuck all.

Re: The Dictator observations thread.
I watched this whole episode and it's not particularly good. However, this whole interview is great.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.
Re: The Dictator observations thread.
I didn't see the entire interview, just some highlights, it sounded to me like Jon was way more prepared to talk about the issue then Nathan was, all he had were his talking points, but no rebuttals to back up his BS.

I wonder, every so often, whether I'm conscious and contrarian enough to confound these models, or whether I'm arrogant of my delusion to be above it all. That is, I don't do social media at all and I never click on anything marked "sponsored link" just on principle. But am I actually outside the trap?

The sponsored shit on amazon is ridiculous. It used to have a cleaner storefront.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑11 Mar 2023, 9:17pmhttps://www.theguardian.com/commentisfr ... e-internet

I know it will never happen, but this would genuinely fix almost all anti-woke discourse immediately. Conservatives have learned they can just flood the zone with bullshit and even if its all-its-face nonsense they know no one will challenge them in the moment to even the most basic explanation.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑14 Mar 2023, 8:27amDanSlott/status/1634950944415944704

It's from the same playbook of calling anything they don't like to be "Marxist." It appeals to emotion, not the mind. Calling stuff Marxist or woke is more of an incantation or a trigger word, demonstrating to the group that I hate the same stuff you hate.Flex wrote: ↑14 Mar 2023, 10:09amI know it will never happen, but this would genuinely fix almost all anti-woke discourse immediately. It'd be amusing to start doing that to right-wing people. Yeah, I can't fucking stand NASCAR. Shit is so woke. Same thing with evangelicals. Assholes are always pushing that woke stuff of everyone.

Re: The Dictator observations thread.
I'm with Doc, this could be a shit ton of fun if the tables were turned on the far right and everything they embrace we started to declare as "woke"!

Re: The Dictator observations thread.
The ironic thing is that people did start accusing NASCAR of being woke when they banned Confederate Flags and allowed a Black guy to be a driver.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑15 Mar 2023, 8:26amIt'd be amusing to start doing that to right-wing people.
