I don't get it. The guy's an award-winning composer apparently. He certainly has heard of Shakespeare? Is he trying to be funny? Or just being contrary?

He may be familiar with Shakespeare but he hasn't read Hamlet.
I don't doubt though that people could be dropping Shakespeare references I don't get because I've only read a handful of things.

Heard on CBC radio this morning an American journalist (didn't catch the name) describe the US as like the Soviet Union in the 80s—septuagenarian leaders, corrupt elections, and lines to get into grocery stores with bare spots on the shelves.
