If anyone here subscribes to Defector and has not yet read the batshit Alaska story, please attend to this immediately.

I'm not sure if they're doing previews/limited article views, but here's the link just in case: https://defector.com/some-shit-is-going ... laska-man/

Well, you knew this was coming: " either turn yourself in, kill yourself, or do what you need to do. I will personally kill you and Mara Kimmel my goddamn self, you Jewish piece of living fucking shit. You have met your match, motherfucker."

I got into it on Facebook with one of these types obsessed with human trafficking. I told him that I worked in sexual abuse prevention for 11 years and the organization I work for now helped to create legislation to help victims of trafficking. I asked him what he has done and I haven't heard back. Quelle surprise.

I shake my head at conservative Jews who act like there's no longer any antisemitism on the right any more because Republicans are reliable supporters of Israel. If Israeli politics ever swings leftward, we'll see very quickly the antisemitism that's simmering amongst proper Republicans.

Agreed. Though remember this is a very small minority of Jews who feel this way. Most of us see right through Trump's "support" for Israel. The embassy move was done to appease evangelicals and their rapture fantasies (he even said he did this for them). The normalization with some of the gulf states has been going on for more than a decade. Trump had really nothing to do with it. He was just there.

A friend posted something the other day that I hadn't even thought of and set an absolute chill down my spine: If Trump is re-elected, we'd better hope that Ivanka and Jared don't get divorce in the next four years. If they do, we are done.

I always felt that it would be just a matter of time before Jews become the target for those that don't already consider them a target. If hypothetically, they got rid of the blacks, muslims, and Mexicans, eventually it would get to the Jews.

I don't follow.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

There's always Stephen Miller! And to a lesser extent Ben Shapiro. He's got a few allies in the tribe that I don't think he's teetering on the verge of an antisemitic turn. The Israel support has too much intersectionality with the evangelicals and plus islamophobia, xenophobia, racism towards black, etc. take up too much of narrative for another group to be added.

Maybe I'm being overly optimistic.

And I might be being overly pessimistic. Intergenerational trauma can do that to you. Let's hope it's not an issue come November 3.
