I spent three hours yesterday in a hearing designed to "fix" non-existing voter fraud. One guy testifying spoke for 30 minutes about how the Chinese hacked the voting machines in Missouri so that Trump would lose (which, he won in MO, so how does that help his argument?). I am quoted at the bottom of the article. It gives a good glance into how batshit this state is:

If it wasn't so scary it would be hilarious. All these people spouting "facts" that aren't even close to being accurate, but they'll defend their BS to their dying breath.
Speaking of being 1 of 3 wearing a mask, the dying breath I mentioned above may not be too far off for some.

Why are the Chinese so bad at fixing elections in Red states? That's the real question, people!
I mean, our atty. general is suing them for causing Covid (you heard that right. He is suing China), so ask him!
How dispiriting for the people who are career civil servants in MO's justice department. Experienced and skilled, and they're wasting their time on this kind of bullshit. Our former neighbour is pretty high up in federal Justice, and they said the Harper years were a nightmare. They'd give their assessment of a claim, be overruled by the political hacks, and then pursue a case that results in being scolded by the judge for being nonsense.
They suffered through law school, and fellow law students, for this.
Got a Rake? Sure!

I work with a lot of lawyers and I can assure you that there are no moral compass courses taught in law school.

My favourite thing about lawyers (better yet: law profs) is that they think they received a wildcard degree that makes them an expert in every subject. History, economics, medicine, political theory—they know it all at levels equal to or exceeding that of morons who only trained in that one area. I've been at campus gatherings where people exchange knowing looks as a law prof stomps into someone else's field and opines like a high priest. Oh, to be a lawyer, placed on a planet of monkeys unworthy of your boundless wisdom.

(I had a young woman in my punk seminar this winter. Whip smart and eager. She told me towards the end of term that she was starting law school this fall. I told her that not only would she excel, she'd be bored by most of it. I said, Have you seen the bozos who go into law school? Ah well, hopefully she practices a social beneficial form of law.)

Gene's been in Chapel Hill, NC, for six or seven years now, I think; I moved to Ottawa in 2010.

Guess I oughta pay more attention. Still, vividly remember the adventures of a 15-year-old thinly moustached eumaas chasing a Clash bumper sticker through Norfolk.
