The Boss read something maybe a week ago, from one person who had *almost* lost the faith, complaining about blowing thru all their savings because of what Q or a Vice-Q or whatever told them. On a human level, I have compassion for people who have fucked themselves buying snake oil; but then again, if they're going to burn thru their bank account for this, they were going buy scratch lottery tickets with it anyway. But it's just jawdropping to see such incomprehensible gullibility and purposeful impoverishment from so many people. Every snotty, elitist critique about mass society and mass culture finds its evidence here.

I'm not sold that that's a dominant quality of them. I could be wrong, of course, but to buy into something so clearly nonsensical suggests seriously damaged people.
