ROUND 4 - Earthquake Weather, Side 1

Post by Flex »

I can't figure out a slant into making a joke about Slant Six. Uhhh. Six.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

I like King of the Bayou more than I recalled when I started listening for this exercise, but it's still a shade below the other three tracks. I lean towards the production making a lot of these tunes a bit more forgettable than they needed to be.

It would be a really good song if they'd turned up Joe's vocal and the distorted rhythm guitar. It's all clattering drums. The guitar solo is horrendous as well, I have to say.

Just heard Boogie in its entirety for the first time in years. It just gets worse if that's possible.

I'm voting for Gangsterville, it's a mess. There's a good song somewhere trying to get out but it's just all over the fucking place.

I kinda felt that way before but listening to the vinyl single over and over again it eventually all started making sense to me. Or I went mad.

That's how I originally heard it and I was underwhelmed then as well.

Seeing as he brought it up in the previous round's thread, I'll openly stump for King of the Bayou persevering because it demeans Kory. Let's find the peanut in this steaming coil, folks!

I feel like, on a better producer, more focused album, I’d be voting Island Hopping off by now, because I like the potential of a lot of these remaining numbers more than IH. But they just don’t execute. Not sure who’s going yet, but I’m keeping IH.
