ROUND 4 - The Meskie Non-Album Tracks

Post by Flex »

Turns out that Norro's Dub was King of exactly jack and shit.

I'll say it every time, when we're in a head-to-head you're STILL VOTING FOR THE SONG YOU LIKE LEAST.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

Proud of Dakhar Mean Time, a song that never even got recorded in studio, for making it to the fourth round. But that vocal version of Minstrel Boy is brilliant and I think has the legs to go deep, deep into this tourney.

I've just tried again with the vocal version of Minstrel Boy but it just washes over me. I really feel like I'm missing something, everyone seems to love it.

Dakhar is hard to judge on an early live performance but I'm gonna have to declare it better.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

Word. I can’t go by what might have been, but what a great job it did.

I’m sure I read somewhere here that Meskies shouldn’t have done The Harder They Come live, for me they murdered A Message To You Rudy, especially the Tymon versions. Painful.

It’s...ok. It feels more based on the original than the Specials version. Problem is, I think the Specials version is definitive.

Yeah. It’s...not great.

(I actually like their live Harder They Come decently. Certainly works better than their Walk On the Wild Side.)

Yeah, I originally said that and I agree about A Message To You Rudi.

From '99 onwards Joe seemed to want to do loads of covers in his sets when there was a wealth of original (not cover) Clash stuff he could have knocked out. Songs from any point in his career would have been preferrable to retreads of Blitzkrieg Bop.

It would’ve been nice if he could remember the dang lyrics to Blitzkrieg Bop even once, if he had to do it.
