ROUND 6 - Global A Go-Go, LP 2
Johnny Appleseed decided to root for Shaktar Donetsk and where did that get him? The loser's corner.
So, we're heading over two the second LP. The reason I did it this way is because the instrumental version of Minstrel Boy takes up the entire 4th side.

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead
Pex Lives!

At The Border Guy has never done much for me.
Re: ROUND 6 - Global A Go-Go, LP 2
Every time I put on Global, I never intend to listen to Minstrel Boy all the way through, but every once in awhile I find myself realizing I've spent the last 20 minutes in a pleasant daze when it finally ends. That gives it some real merit, but I still can't put it ahead of any of any of these.
Re: ROUND 6 - Global A Go-Go, LP 2
Mondo Bongo is the most listened to Mescaleros song on Spotify by a huge margin which is really weird.
Voting Minstrel Boy because it's so inferior to the Blackhawk Down version.

Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

It's cos it's in that Brad Pitt film with Angelina Jolie
Re: ROUND 6 - Global A Go-Go, LP 2
MB was the de facto theme song to Mr. & Mrs. Smith, which was a huge movie in America. An ex-girlfriend of mine who knew shit about music even knew it. that said, it is also my favorite Meskies song.

I don't get that shit either. Are people really spinning the soundtrack to a largely forgettable film from 2005 still?Silent Majority wrote: ↑02 Jul 2019, 12:26pmIt's cos it's in that Brad Pitt film with Angelina Jolie

Say what you will about the movie, but Mondo Bongo fit the scene like a glove

Is this where I confirm that Mondo Bongo is a song that doesn’t do much for me? It’s pleasant. I don’t dislike it.matedog wrote: ↑02 Jul 2019, 12:30pmI don't get that shit either. The tedious Minstrel Boy.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

Had a stomach bug last week and started watching that movie. God it's so bad, but I can't stop watching.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑02 Jul 2019, 1:22pmWhen was the last time you played the soundtrack to Empire Records?matedog wrote: ↑02 Jul 2019, 12:30pmI don't get that shit either. Re: ROUND 6 - Global A Go-Go, LP 2
I've never watched it in its entirety, but I could probably stitch together all the partial viewings into one full one. Rounders is probably my so-bad-it's-good flick that I've watched way too often.matedog wrote: ↑02 Jul 2019, 2:37pmHad a stomach bug last week and started watching that movie. Speaking of, why the hell is Swinging Party the most listened to Replacements song??? Is that also in some movie from 15 years ago?Silent Majority wrote: ↑02 Jul 2019, 12:26pmIt's cos it's in that Brad Pitt film with Angelina Jolie
