They did the Gansterville 12" single for Record Day a couple years back.
Maybe that was a "drip the toe in the water" to get an idea if it would be worth it to them.
Sony did put out an expanded edition a few years back that was only available on a CDR.
I only listen to my remaster now.

Re: Earthquake Weather LP
Thank you for re-upping your superb mix of EW. I'd forgotten what a difference your mix made, compared to the record.
In an alternate universe, a remix from the master tapes would enhance this record further. Remove as much of the lead guitar as possible and replace the bass.
Has anyone had a go at removing the guitar solo from Gangsterville?

Re: Earthquake Weather LP
Does the fact that “Sleepwalk” is on the new Dark Horse comp suggest that they have the rights to Earthquake Weather?
I told ya that after I bought it at an inflated price...! LOL

Re: Earthquake Weather LP
I doubt it. If there was a greater spread of tracks across all the albums I might have believed that, but I think they've just got the rights to two early tracks to give more 'length' to the compilation.
Re: Earthquake Weather LP
I now have EW on LP! I got my copy off of eBay and paid an inflated price. I had to do it so I could hang it up with both of my Gangsterville 12”s and my Island Hopping 12”.
Of course it got a couple spins on the old turntable first.

Re: Earthquake Weather LP
Earthquake Weather has always suffered from the mismatch of Zander's electric guitar and Lonnie Marshall's slap funk bass playing. When you take a look at the songs recorded, there are a handful that aren't blighted by this.
Using Marky's excellent remaster as a reference point, I thought there's a ten track lp in amongst the sessions, which could "almost" mirror a latter day Strummer solo effort.
In one of the reprinted interviews posted by Young Parisiene, Joe references suffering from depression. There is a kind of melancholy feel to some of his songs from this period. I think the following tracks mixing album and b-side cuts reflect that.
Side A
Island Hopping
Jewellers & Bums
Don't Tango With Django
Punk Rock Blues
Sleepwalk
Side B
15th Brigade
Leopardskin Limousines
Ride Your Donkey
Cholo Vest
Mango Street.
I think the tracks hang together OK. There's a lot to be said for the old album format. What would your ten track version be?

I would have to add "Shouting Street" to that list. There are some good songs there but need a different guitar sound and a less cluttered mix.Telecaster wrote: ↑23 Feb 2021, 9:09amEarthquake Weather has always suffered from the mismatch of Zander's electric guitar and Lonnie Marshall's slap funk bass playing. Re: Earthquake Weather LP
I would have added Shouting Street, but the arrangement is just too busy. You did a great job to cut through a very muddy mix with your remaster.
The acoustic flavoured tracks seem to work better during these sessions. Jewellers & Bums has guitar parts that are more reminiscent of Mick's playing. I added that for another up tempo track.

Re: Earthquake Weather LP
Shouting Street is the best song on the album, can't leave it out! That and Island Hopping, and Sleepwalk are streets ahead of the rest.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board
