Is that a replica of one of his guitars? It doesn't look familiar.

Interesting. I always just think of the Ignore Alien Orders one.

Cursory google image view search shows he used this in 1980. Can't really find much info before then. Ignore Alien Orders seems standard from 81 on and occasionally before 81. It seems like he used a lot of different stuff pre-1980, though other more equipment focused folks might know more.

Regardless, it seems weird to use a pretty obscure guitar to make a boutique guitar.

Think i read somewhere before the kampuchea concert was the first time he used the fender, which would put it late 79. Wouldn't swear on it, though.

It’s a bit early for an April Fool, surely?

From the description:

"A perfect match for his stripped down, no nonsense delivery, the Esquire was the perfect tool for Strummer to hammer away on show after show working out angst and often having his drummer play on the strings with drumsticks during songs."

Did that happen "often"? Never seen it once, nor heard of it.

He actually played it a lot in 80-81, then it came back occasionally. He played it on both Fridays and SNL tv appearances. Baker said it was always his solid Number 2, but that they never got it to sound like Number 1.

I was thinking the exact same thing. That's just crazy money for this one.

Seems like Joe's managers have dialled it back a bit this time.
Obviously not as limited a run, but still a Mexico-made guitar as per the 2008 replica and that was half the price
