Really nice sounding demo. A very Dylan sounding tune.

A little light on legit outtakes, but the demos are a nice addition if they aren't carbon copies. The Road demo seems to indicate that they are at least slightly different.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

I'd be happy with cd of just the demos. Forbidden City was already released on that RSD 12". London Is Burning was released on a limited 7".

Pretty much a "what it says on the tin" box. Would have loved some more material (live maybe?) but it looks like $165 for a 7-lp set - not as bad as I'd have expected. May place an order.

Agreed with Marky that it'd be great if the rarities 2-lp set was released standalone as a CD. Not holding my breathe, though.

EDIT: being released as a CD edition as well: https://shop.joestrummer.com/collection ... -years-4cd

Must admit i did get a bit over excited when i saw the 7 LP and automatically assumed we'd get, if not a treasure trove of stuff, then a few more demos and previously unheard of tracks at least. But as it turns out, Rock Art and Global take up 4 of those discs on their own. Ah well! Do really like that Road take though so looking forward to the other demos with interest.

My first complaint: I'd have rounded up the various compilation rarities and so forth that were issues during the Meskies years as well, a few live cuts seem missing from the "extras" disc. I was going to complain about the lack of the vocal version of Minstrel Boy then remembered it was included on 001. I guess they're mostly try not to replicate the two volumes, which I appreciate. Other than the album tracks which appeared on 001, the only other track that seems to pop up on both is London is Burning, unless it's a different take.
