They need to get a move on rather than waiting four years between releases. As Lucinda says, no one is getting any younger.

I'm interested in what Joe was recording between 1983 and 1985. There is more where Czechoslovak Song came from.

Yeah I'm sure there is. But c'mon 10 demos and a couple of outtakes from 100 tapes is small pickings. Fans have those Meskies albums already. Are they remastered?

Yeah, remastered by Paul Hicks. He did Assembly, right? I think that got mixed reviews around here, I never picked it up. I like some of his work on the Beatles, tho.

They are mate.

Yeah, why not just get the lot out there once it's done. All the Meskies records sounded sonically great anyway, it's not like any drastic action is needed.

I was right to not get my hopes up but the demos look coolish.

Assembly was awful. Totally crap artwork. And brickwalled.

I think there must be tons of stuff there. I remember that Song for Joe thing they did a couple of years back and there was this very short snippet of a Joe song I'd never heard before, from something Don filmed I think. I've no idea how or why they choose the track lists though, i guess commercial factors are one of the things at play.

I agree not much to do with the Meskies stuff. I'm just glad there's a separate cd. I don't need those vinyl albums. The booklets are usually good. But not essential.

And yes why not get a really great box set out with all the demos and outtakes instead of making us buy stuff over and over. Same old story...

My first complaint: I'd have rounded up the various compilation rarities and so forth that were issues during the Meskies years as well, a few live cuts seem missing from the "extras" disc. I was going to complain about the lack of the vocal version of Minstrel Boy then remembered it was included on 001. I guess they're mostly try not to replicate the two volumes, which I appreciate. Other than the album tracks which appeared on 001, the only other track that seems to pop up on both is London is Burning, unless it's a different take.
Didn't the limited 7" single have two different versions?

It's great, isn't it, and I immediately prefer it to the album version.

Same here.

I’m also surprised there isn’t a working demo of Guitar Slinger Man or Dakar Meantime.
