You might need to work some real magic on the second one, unless someone has a decent bit rate version of it.Marky Dread wrote: ↑29 Sep 2022, 4:13pmAhh okay mate. The Lets Rock Again version is the one with the Echo machine comments at the start. I think the official site version starts with Joe saying "This is one they won't be broadcasting". Perhaps someone could confirm, please?Marky Dread wrote: ↑29 Sep 2022, 4:01pmI have the dvd. So when I get around to compiling this stuff I will sort it from there.

Re: Joe Strummer 002 coming soon
Finally received my (vinyl) copy of this. Pretty good packaging. Haven't read the book yet.
Re: Joe Strummer 002 coming soon
The upside-down pages in the book for the CD version are pretty classy. Glad a lot of care and attention to detail went into it.

Re: Joe Strummer 002 coming soon
Despite the outer page being printed upside-down, the book was a pretty fun read. Really weird labels on the CDs themselves. Does Dark Horse have an inferiority complex or something?
I wonder what we could now reasonably predict for the contents of 003 (if it happens) given Teddy's note on licensing...

It would be nice to hear those rock n roll covers. But I wonder what else there is on those alleged 100 tapes.Kory wrote: ↑11 Oct 2022, 3:56pmDespite the outer page being printed upside-down, the book was a pretty fun read. Re: Joe Strummer 002 coming soon
So this Paul Hicks guy who remastered the Joe/Meskies box is working on The Beatles stuff.
Look at this screenshot of Ocean of Dreams. The instrumental version we had and the Vocal version on the new box. The brickwalling is laughable.

Why do they even pay people to do that? A computer programme would be able to "master" music if they just wanted a loud messMarky Dread wrote: ↑13 Oct 2022, 3:03pmSo this Paul Hicks guy who remastered the Joe/Meskies box is working on The Beatles stuff.

I should point out that TeddyB did say Giles Martin is doing the Beatles remasters. And Paul Hicks is responsible for the Lennon stuff. Still bloody awful in my opinion.

That's totally messed up. This loudness wars stuff was debunked years ago, why does it continue? Is it better for streaming? Thanks for illustrating that.Marky Dread wrote: ↑13 Oct 2022, 3:03pmSo this Paul Hicks guy who remastered the Joe/Meskies box is working on The Beatles stuff.

I first noticed it when I bought a 2CD Squeeze set years ago that had most of the b-sides and a few unreleased tracks from their classic period. It is so loud that the sound is distorted even at low volume as if your speakers are blown out. The next wave of re-mastered product in a few years will be de-brickwalled re-issues.
