This was going to be my post. I think that this line is too true in our society

Spend your life in quarantine
But sooner or later, you'll bump into Jean

If anybody knows the mangled lyric that follows it, please post.
And she'll give you those Rabies from Venus
We'll all have that love disease between us

Falls on a Triumph line
I got my motorcycle jacket
But I'm walking all the time
South Atlantic wind blows
Ice from a dying creed
I see no glory
When will we be free?”

I wish I was a helmsman
On a clipper bound for the Spanish main
Breathing fancy breezes
Gold Jamaican sugar cane

It really couple be any random stanza from any of the three Walker tracks he sings on. I really love what he was going for on those tunes. So wistful and evocative.

Nobody really thinks about you when you’re gone.

Not true, but I love the line and the song.

I agree and in fact its the complete opposite "every one loves you when you're dead"

Its amazing how much of a genius Joe was with hes lyrics and with the music being so great it can make you forget sometimes how good a lyricist he really was. I mean we all know how good he is but when you separate the lyrics in a thread like this it makes you stop and think wow.

This is a great thread really enjoyed reading all the quotes.

I've got to get away
From the pain you drive into the heart of me
The love we share seems to go nowhere
And I've lost my life
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

"I don't want to hear about what the rich are doing
I don't want to go to where the rich are going
They think they're so clever, they think they're so right
But the truth is only known by guttersnipes"

"'N' every gimmick hungry yob digging gold from rock 'n' roll
Grabs the mike to tell us he'll die before he's sold
But I believe in this - and it's been tested by research
He who fucks nuns will later join the church"

"I see a million walk the city mile
The tickertape kings and the juveniles
Will anybody tell me which way to go
Will anybody come back on the C.B. radio
I'm counting the stars and the telegraph poles
And each one represents the hopes of a soul
You'd think that God wouldn't be so hard
When you see all the little children running, running in the backyard
On a Mississippi gourd with a Sub-Sahran song
Somebody is wailing in the financial district sun
Can anybody feel the distance to the Nile
I wanna live and I wanna dance awhile"

That "you'd think that God wouldnt be so hard" line really gets me every time. Such a great little song and wonderful lyric. And Cholo Vest too, touch sentimental perhaps but love the raw emotion in it.
