I've not seen this interview before. Among other bits on the state of Topper circa '85, he offers his version of getting sacked in 82 and his opinion of the other three at the time.

Topper interviewed in Sounds (August 3, 1985)
Hello? Go ahead, man. Yeah I'd just like to say, um, lets have some music now, huh? Ok, ok...thank you.

I have never read this! A very interesting read, thanks for sharing. Interesting how he says he is singing two tracks on his solo LP? I wonder if that was recorded as it obviously wasn't released? It could have been before they found a vocalist for the project and that plan changed?YoungParisians wrote: ↑28 May 2022, 12:02pmI've not seen this interview before. I thought I read that in 1983 Joe either paid for additional rehab for Topper or gave him money he owed to a dealer?
Does that ring a bell for anyone?

Paid off a dealer per the 1983 timeline someone posted. Not sure the source of that info though.YoungParisians wrote: ↑31 May 2022, 12:28amI thought I read that in 1983 Joe either paid for additional rehab for Topper or gave him money he owed to a dealer?

Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.
