I just listened to this. That might be the most tripping-balls stoned Mick's ever been onstage. Shrooms, acid...whatever it was, it was a whole lot more face-melty than the usual pot or coke regimen. That's right up there with the B.A.D. OGWT '86 appearance for " "-factor.
Sometimes shitshow Clash is the most interesting Clash, though. I'd say 6/8 qualifies as an interesting mess. Moreso than the 9th. And different from the sameness of most of the other Bonds gigs.
I don't know what it is about all these drum mic problems on these 4 leaked Bonds and Orpheum shows. They're just capturing the most random loud noises around the kit like there's an electrical short or something that cranks the volume up insanely high for a split second. That's not a flaw you usually hear on a SBD, much less on multiple SBD shows.

I think it's a worthwhile boot for Mag 7 (awesome) and Pressure Drop (terrible) with some other highlights thrown in. That 1981-05-23 is similarly drunk/sloppy, particularly Mick.Rat Patrol wrote:I just listened to this. That might be the most tripping-balls stoned Mick's ever been onstage. Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.
