Well, with the standard disclaimer that no song is Play to Win (even, perhaps, Play to Win) Rudie is still a great number. One of my favorite tracks off of LC and one of the first Clash songs I was exposed to. Ska-tastic.

Oh, I was looking on a tiny blackberry screen so I just assumed it was the who. Which makes sense, since that's the sort of trickery the Jam were doing on purpose for almost their entire career

Songwriting (in ALL facets) does not get much better than this.

Rudie Can't Fail is among my most favorite songs of all time. I wonder why it was not released as an high profile UK / US / international single at the time? Why only in Netherlands? Me thinks it's a classic a-side track. The hordes of ska punk bands of the nineties owe a lot to that single tune.
