Geez Marky, been looking for this for a long time, cant begin to thank you enough. I have Up & At Em on album but its missing this Police & Thieves. I downloaded (probably from you) back in the dial up days but marked it down wrong, then lost at some point, and have been wondering what show it was from ever since. And have never heard it this crisp and present. now reading that the opening band were 9 & 11 years old?? coulda been me!
anyways, extremely appreciated.
sincerely,
Aza

Yeah the UP & At Em boot was great back in the day. Only wish the full tapes from those first 4 shows would show up as we only have the latter dates.aza wrote: ↑08 Aug 2020, 6:10pmGeez Marky, been looking for this for a long time, cant begin to thank you enough. Big thanks to Serge M, Xtopher and of course Marky for bringing it all together so well. A real pleasure to listen to, great mix of live sound and audience with top notch performances. From band AND crowd
It’s interesting hearing those unreleased Combat Rock songs with their slightly different, work-in-progress feel. Know Your Rights in particular- the bassline is more rhythmic or busy, or something. And I always say it but Topper’s live playing is fantastic. Loads of extra flourishes and fills that power things along a treat.
Mind you the band’s choice of opening number shows how they just oozed confidence at the time

this sounds Like a real treat - awesome setlist, you can not have enough sandinista shows.
Thanks again!

Wow, that was a really cool version. I'm not too easily wowed with as many boots as I've listened to, but that Police and Thieves is something else. Thanks for posting, Marky.Marky Dread wrote: ↑08 Aug 2020, 3:54pmCheers mate. Yeah the atmosphere and the crowd singing "Styleee" along with Ranking Roger is brilliant.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.
