Marky Dread Remasters
Re: Marky Dread Remasters
I fired up the 1977 Mont de Marsan show yesterday, haven't listened to that in ages - a fantastic show, they were really fired up playing a new setlist with several new songs.
One thing I'd never noticed is when one of those, 'The Prisoner' gets introduced by Joe, Mick very deliberately adds '... this is Number 6 in the list'
I never noticed it before, I'm sure nobody in France would be familiar with the TV series, Mick just couldn't resist an in-joke

Not The Fillmore, but the Temple Beautiful. The Fillmore (where Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros played in 1999 and 2001) is now next to where the Temple Beautiful used to be (now a post office). Not to be confused with The Fillmore West, which was located on Market and Van Ness.Charlie Dont Surf wrote: ↑06 Mar 2021, 4:22am+1Telecaster wrote: ↑05 Mar 2021, 4:48amWow, you're on a roll this week Marky. Yep I was aware and did my homework. I know all that information and it's on Graham's site. Check the flyer for the gig on my artwork it states clearly "White Riot in the Fillmore!". This is how the show was advertised so that's what you got.BR16ADE_R055E wrote: ↑06 Mar 2021, 10:42pmNot The Fillmore, but the Temple Beautiful. Could've just as easily called it the "Peoples Temple" but as things with Jim Jones didn't turn out to well, best leave that where it is.

Re: Marky Dread Remasters
I don't know why BMC states “Geary Temple (Fillmore)” on the 1979 – The Clash on Tour page, then “San Francisco – The Filmore” and “Geary Temple known as The Fillmore” on the gig page. That info is incorrect.Marky Dread wrote: ↑07 Mar 2021, 5:32amYep I was aware and did my homework. I know all that information and it's on Graham's site. Regarding “White Riot in the Fillmore!” on the flyer, “the Fillmore” refers to the Fillmore District, not the venue The Fillmore. The Peoples Temple was a completely different building, located to the right of the Temple Beautiful/Geary Temple.

Re: Marky Dread Remasters
It's my understanding that the "Temple" sits at the junction of Geary boulevard and Fillmore and has been known locally as "Fillmore". I know the "Fillmore West" is a completely different venue. As to "Geary Temple" as opposed to "Temple Beautiful" the venue was indeed advertised as such.BR16ADE_R055E wrote: ↑08 Mar 2021, 1:59amI don't know why BMC states “Geary Temple (Fillmore)” on the 1979 – The Clash on Tour page, then “San Francisco – The Filmore” and “Geary Temple known as The Fillmore” on the gig page. Cheers stuart. Topper is so immense at tines. I've had this show for an age now. I was reading about it on Graham's BMC site and he mentioned that he thought it was a good show but suffered from distance and would be improved by a new mix. So here it is and it's an enjoyable listen.stuartreed wrote: ↑08 Mar 2021, 12:38pmCheers for this - love Toppers drum rolls at the start of Complete Control.
