Anyway now we've all finished praying at the Temple Beautiful let's get back to business.

Thanks for this, Mark. The band sounded like they were really on fire on this tour. You do a great job of capturing that energy in the audio. Just wish some of the shows they did around this time were a bit longer. Seems like a lot of the early '79 shows were only a little over an hour long, which seems short considering they had two whole albums worth of material at this point, as well as the non-album singles and b-sides. Was that just the average length of most concerts that artists did at the time?

Yeah they were becoming a true force as someone famously once said. This show isn't obviously the full show but all that was captured. I think maybe 18 tracks were played but I can't back it up with evidence.

I've been an insomniac since the age of 13. Great for you but not so at times for me. ;)

Thank you once again Marky. As always, an upgrade from an older, muffled copy I had of this show.

Cheers Sparky. Yeah the chance of a few new tapes emerging gets slimmer by the year. But the upgrades at least give a fresh listening experience.👍

Thanks as always Marky. Just giving an anniversary listen to your Capitol Theatre show. I think you pieced it together from two or three sources? Great work, particularly getting a complete Clampdown.

Cheers mate. Yeah that was from a couple of sources.

Hello Marky, as always, THANK YOU for the continuous gifts, its all been incredible. I'm sorry to write you with a tech question, but the last few downloads have all come on my side as one long flac file- not a folder i can import as separate songs. i dont believe im doing anything different, but any chance you'd know why this is happening?

best,
Aza

Hi, I've noticed this happening with Mega lately. You just need to change the file extension from .flac to .rar and then extract as you normally would.

Oh, I get so excited for these Clash II shows! And it even has a soundcheck. I'm listening to this as soon as it downloads. Thanks so much!

Just heard the soundcheck. What a treasure! I love all of this line-up's takes on Broadway, and Clampdown is always pure righteous thunder. It's one of my favorite Clash songs, so every great quality recording is cause for celebration.

+1

Cheers Mate,
Great Work on the Filmore San Francisco 79 Show, Thanks Again

CDS
Not The Fillmore, but the Temple Beautiful. The Fillmore (where Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros played in 1999 and 2001) is now next to where the Temple Beautiful used to be (now a post office). Not to be confused with The Fillmore West, which was located on Market and Van Ness.

Yep I was aware and did my homework. I know all that information and it's on Graham's site. Check the flyer for the gig on my artwork it states clearly "White Riot in the Fillmore!". This is how the show was advertised so that's what you got.

Could've just as easily called it the "Peoples Temple" but as things with Jim Jones didn't turn out to well, best leave that where it is.
I don't know why BMC states “Geary Temple (Fillmore)” on the 1979 – The Clash on Tour page, then “San Francisco – The Filmore” and “Geary Temple known as The Fillmore” on the gig page. That info is incorrect.

http://www.blackmarketclash.co.uk/Pages ... %20SF.html

Regarding “White Riot in the Fillmore!” on the flyer, “the Fillmore” refers to the Fillmore District, not the venue The Fillmore. The Peoples Temple was a completely different building, located to the right of the Temple Beautiful/Geary Temple.
It's my understanding that the "Temple" sits at the junction of Geary boulevard and Fillmore and has been known locally as "Fillmore". I know the "Fillmore West" is a completely different venue. As to "Geary Temple" as opposed to "Temple Beautiful" the venue was indeed advertised as such.
The temple where The Clash and other bands played was located at Geary and Fillmore Streets. The venue went by different names (e.g., Temple Beautiful, Geary Temple, and 1839 Geary Temple), but "The Fillmore" was not one of them since that’s a different venue. In this other flyer for The Clash gig, “Fillmore” is only mentioned as a cross street (“+ Fillmore”).

This flyer for another Buzzcocks gig at the temple does state "Temple Beautiful" instead of "1839 Geary Temple." Again, "Fillmore" is mentioned as a cross street ("/Fillmore").

Anyway, carry on...
