Thats it, cheers. I'm afraid to say its definitely mick's voice as I'll likely be wrong about that too!

Eerily haunting and melancholic. Genius!

So much to love about this song. It's one of my favorite tracks by the band. Joe delivers a powerful message, his voice sounding both defiant and weary. The promo video is one of the most effective they ever made.

I love that "fifty five minutes past eleven line" with its reference to the doomsday clock. What a line to leave it all hanging on.

Their most disrespected single.

Edit: Hitsville doesn't count because it's garbo.

Certainly not around here. Y'all love this tuneless, lifeless dreck.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

I love it, it was just never single material. At least Hitsville stood a chance of being a hit. Like if they'd actually promoted it or made a video or something. You can't say it isn't catchy, my sister loved it and she was a real pop charts fan with little time for the Clash.

I agree it's really underrated.

When you listen to it in isolation (ie not whilst listening to Sandinista) it sounds even better.

Listening to Akron 82, really good show and reminded what a great track the call up was live. Joe's vocal really kills it.

Great version even without Tops.
