TeddyB has always been a gentleman and I've missed his posts. Blaming him for anything is absurd.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

No archives so now it's time for fiction. Whatever. Have fun with Teddy. I'm out of here.
I feel that there is a fascistic element, for example, in the Rolling Stones . . .

I've studied the phenomenon of neo-provincialism in self-isolating online communities but this place takes the fucking cake.

This might make me unpopular (I couldn't give a fuck), but I thought a few more people might have sprang to Teddy's defence around here.

He burned a lot of bridges when he unleashed TDIDDY on the boards and started badmouthing Inder and these boards in other places.

I've been here a while and apart from TDIDDY I can't remember any of that. Was TDIDDY a TeddyB alter-ego? If not, it's hardly his responsibility.

I've been here a while and apart from TDIDDY I can't remember any of that. Was TDIDDY a TeddyB alter-ego? If not, it's hardly his responsibility.

Teddy lobbing the "illegal download site" charge at the boards while invoking Mick as if that were an officially-sanctioned warning delivered from the top was where he lit a lot of his goodwill built up over a decade-plus up in smoke. A direct threat fired across Inder's bough for his posters failing to fall in line behind him and TDIDDY in a poo-flinging thread where THERE WERE NO WINNERS (and where the auxiliary piling-on of other people's additional issues into the mix was making things worse) was beyond the pale. He was here when "classic" IMCT got shut down...he knew exactly what kind of shock value those words would have.

BUT, I'll say this. . .

It's not the first time a longtime poster in good standing has gone beyond the pale. Not even the first time vaguely menacing legal threats were intimated. Shit happens when people argue retardedly on the Internet, and THAT THREAD was a particularly toxic brew of the usual Clashy controversies, maybe the most obnoxious one-issue troll we've ever had here and in peak poisoning mode at that moment of the infestation, an ACTUAL member of the band acting like a complete fuckwad (and validating for the whole world to see that being completely scrambled in the brains is the #1 job requirement to ever getting hired for The Clash), some of the usual suspects being extra special pissy for a variety of not altogether related reasons, and an extra-explosive topic to rupture all the festering fault lines at once (Vince signing on to play that rogue Strummerville gig). When this has happened in the past with reliable longtimers there's usually been some process of dealing with it. Apologies, cooler heads prevailing later on, hashing it out over PM's, acting normal in later threads and not threadjacking for Round 37, the "Foe" feature, soaking hawt makeup sex...whatever lowers the temperature. No need to even be buds afterwards, but some sort of acknowledgement that things got out of hand usually cools it with minimal aftertaste. But slinking off, then trying to slip in under the radar with shifting guest names we all damn well know who is, and then playing the hurt feelings card again when called out isn't going to sweep that under the rug. That's being cowardly. And it's being arrogant or full of denial to feel entitled to a free pass for behavior that's unacceptable when somebody else does it. That's only reminding people of it, not putting it in the past.

Just be an adult about your acting like a child. It's not hard. Many of us have been there before and will be again...this is the Internet, and we have no lives. Do that and no one could care less about it anymore. That's all.

Wait, that's not all. . .

I like The Clash. Solid.

IMO, I did neither one of those things. I did have one very short beef with Inder over a comment he made one drunken evening, and whinged about it for a day or two, complaining about how I'd been unfairly maligned but that was a blip. As for Mr. Diddy, I did tell him that I enjoyed posting on the board here, and had done so for years. He was fascinated by this "revelation" and came here on his own, but decided it was more enjoyable to fight, starting with an "attack" on me. That's his personality. I always felt in a way that I was representing Mick and preferred to keep generally positive (the subject of Clash II sometimes aside, though I also tried originally to be civil to Vince). Any idea that he/I were some sort of Andy Kaufman/Tony Clifton sort of thing is patently false. He is someone very close to Joe and Paul and Mick and I presume felt it was punk/righteous/something to jump in pugnaciously. It also encouraged a few others close to the group to drop by and they also commented. This all happened to coincide with the mooted Vince White/Pablo Cook/whoever hookup, which Lucinda and Pockets took exception to and stopped. As for my boosterism, I'm a fan of the Clash and most of their spinoffs and, very openly, a close friend of Mick's. We used to all be okay with that, including Steve and Christopher (despite our perennial differences on the merits of Clash II) and a lot of others who don't post any longer. After it became clear that I had few cyberfriends left here, I stopped posting, or making any comment elsewhere about this board. Actually, I rarely post now on any of the Clash-orientated boards. The C/S board has got most of whatever news is to be had these days almost as quickly as I hear it.

Let me add for the record, neither Mick Jones nor his "internet mafia" (to which TDIDDY should not be attributed -- he was closer to other Clash members) had anything to do with Lucinda or Pockets learning about the planned show/s with Vince playing in the name of Strummerville. It was someone else entirely, not any poster on this board. Also, whatever his over-the-top and recklessly mischevious behavior on this board, I chose not to cyber attack Mr. Diddy because I know him personally to be a good person and good friend to the group. I did complain to him outside the board, but he's not easily controllable and thinks that cyberfighting is part of the fun -- just like some of you do! All the best, Teddy.

I've stated this before, and I'll state it again, I truly appreciated TeddyB sharing his "insider" info with us. I always looked forward to reading his posts and miss them greatly. Thanks to him, we found out about the Shea Stadium CD about 7 months before the release date. Whether or not you like the final product (Shea Stadium CD) has *nothing* to do with TeddyB...he doesn't work for Sony. Enough already with the paranoia and conspiracy theories.

Over/under on how many pages this thread ends up at? 27? 35? 719?

C'mon, you're gonna read it anyway. Why not make a wager while at it.

Wait - Rat - I'm confused here. are you saying that I posted under shifting names? Because if so, you're mistaken. I posted a couple of times as unwanted guest or something months later, but no other post was me unless it said so. As for the reference to illegal site, that was a hotheaded swipe, and it came only from me. Mick had no idea the hassle with Vince was even going on, and doesn't know that TDIDDY was posting here. I did make him aware at some point that I had gotten into an online beef with Vince, and that was because I felt like I had represented him poorly as his friend. Anyway, I'm not asking for any sort of absolvement. It was fun posting with fellow fans for the time I did.
