Surprises from The GREAT Clash SURVIVOR Poll of 2019
Figured I'd put this thread in the main sub-forum so as not to clutter up the Polls too badly.
Surprises for me so far:
1. SAE over Mag 7, obviously.
2. That Bored with the USA held on, given that most of the other snarling punkers seem to be going down when matched up against other material.
3. By the same token, I was surprised at how quickly the debut single went out.
4. Rudie over London Calling. The other giant-slaying to date.
5. Hitsville lasting a few rounds. I always thought it was really badly rated, although that might be because CK hates it so much.

Oh, and I guess in the turgid non-album tracks part 3 heat, that some versions (Mag Dance and Cool Out) hung on against actual songs. I don't disagree, necessarily, but in other matcups the dubs/versions get bounced pretty quickly.

How could you miss Midnight to Stevens losing to all sorts of wank?

And the Look Here incident, though it may just be me who took an issue to that.

I never much cared for Hitsville, but I think part of that is the terrible sequencing of Sandinista. If it were on side 5, I think I’d like it more.Flex wrote: ↑11 Apr 2019, 3:07pmFigured I'd put this thread in the main sub-forum so as not to clutter up the Polls too badly.

Also, I'm still convinced that a lot of the surprises we're seeing are thanks to lurkers.

It's a surprise the poll has ran so smoothly. Maybe there's some lessons to be learned here.

What importance can a poll have on what you think? Can it influence you? I think not, so ......

I think it can make people re-evaluate songs. They may go back and listen to them and find their opinion has changed. It happened to me with "Stop the World."

Anyone whinging about the polls are 100% the ones who'd be moaning about the lack of Clash talk this board usually has.

Yes! I love this group - always great conversations, but it's great to actually discuss the Clash in depth now and then!Silent Majority wrote: ↑16 Apr 2019, 6:25amAnyone whinging about the polls are 100% the ones who'd be moaning about the lack of Clash talk this board usually has.
